Which division leader at the break will miss the playoffs entirely?
New York Yankees (55-31, 7 game lead) Sure they have a big lead and a $200 million payroll. But are they handcuffed by a weak minor-league system?
Chicago White Sox (46-38, 1/2 game lead) They catch the Twins at the break thanks to newcomer Freddy Garcia and the return of Magglio Ordonez, and face a soft second half schedule. But they have traded away phenom catcher Miguel Olivo, noone is batting above .300.
Texas Rangers (49-37, 2 game lead) Kenny Rogers was vital for the Twins last year, and now the Rangers this year. But is he doomed to finish 13-8 a third straight year?
Philadelphia Phillies (46-41, 1 game lead) It's not a far drop back to 4th in this division... and their best starter sports a 4.48 ERA.
St Louis Cardinals (54-33, 7 game lead) Sure they can hit, but did anyone have Chris Carpenter sitting at 9-4 with a sub-4.00 ERA and Matt Morris as the #5?
Los Angeles Dodgers (48-38, 1/2 game lead) Odalis Perez and Hideo(us) Nomo on the DL and Edwin Jackson's elbow still looking wonky make the starting roto highly suspect.
None of the above They'll all make it.
